Murder-Suicide in Tiffin, Ohio: Police Identify Victims and Release New Details in Devastating Shooting That Claimed Four Lives
Tiffin, Ohio, is mourning after a heartbreaking shooting on Wednesday evening left two children and two adults dead in what investigators confirmed as a murder-suicide. The Tiffin Police Department released extensive new findings on Thursday, outlining a tragic sequence of events that unfolded in the 100 block of Huss Street around 6:24 p.m. Officers responded immediately after receiving reports of gunfire and screaming, and they discovered multiple gunshot victims upon arrival.
Police identified Ryan Eagon, 42, as the gunman responsible for the fatal shootings. According to investigators, the children’s mother returned to the residence to remove personal belongings during an ongoing domestic separation. She had arranged for Dustin Willey, 29, the father of her oldest child, to assist her with moving out. Authorities said she believed Eagon was working out of town at the time.
The mother and Willey entered the home to gather items while the two children, a 7-year-old and a 7-month-old infant, waited near a vehicle outside. Moments later, they heard the older child cry out. When they ran to check on him, they found Eagon in the driveway. Police reported that Eagon immediately chased Willey, pushed past the mother, and began firing multiple shots without hesitation.
Investigators stated that Eagon then turned the gun on both children before continuing to fire at Willey. The mother carried the wounded children inside as she called for help. First responders transported Willey to Tiffin Mercy Hospital, where he later died. The infant and Eagon were pronounced dead at the scene. The 7-year-old was taken to the hospital but passed away shortly after arrival.
Authorities confirmed that no officers fired their weapons during the response and no law enforcement personnel were injured. The mother, whose identity remains protected under Marsy’s Law, was present throughout the tragedy and made the emergency call.
The Tiffin Police Department, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Seneca County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate. Autopsies are pending as officials work to document all evidence and complete the case with accuracy and transparency.
In a formal statement, Tiffin Police Chief David Paul expressed deep condolences to everyone affected. He emphasized that the emotional impact of the event has reached families, first responders, medical teams, and local schools, and he confirmed that grief support resources are being coordinated for the community.
He also noted that no further identifying information about the children would be released, in accordance with state law and out of respect for the grieving family.
This devastating incident has left the Tiffin community shaken and searching for comfort as investigators work to finalize reports and support systems mobilize to help residents process an unimaginable loss. The police department has stated that additional updates will be shared as appropriate.
